I think the dahlia is one of the most beautiful flowers there is — although, to be honest, I find almost all flowers beautiful. The soft white-red color of the dahlia in this photo stands out beautifully against the dark background.
Every dahlia has its own unique shape, which makes each photo different and special in its own way.
In this image, you can clearly see all the fine details of the flower. It had just rained when I took this photo, so the petals are slightly wet. You can even see tiny dewdrops along the edges of some of the petals.
I captured this photo handheld, in a single shot — which is quite special for a macro photograph.
The photo was taken at the gardens of Castle Keukenhof, where countless dahlias bloom in late summer and autumn. I love going there — I can spend hours wandering among the flowers.
I also have this photo hanging in my own home. I never get tired of looking at it.
