The wild lapwing flower is a fairly rare bulbous plant in the Netherlands, but also occurs as a marquee plant. The natural growing place of the wild lapwing flower is along the banks of the Overijsselse Vecht and the Zwarte Water near Hasselt (Overijssel). About eighty percent of the Dutch wild lapwing flowers are found here.
In other places these flowers also occur, but are mostly planted there. You also see them more often in gardens.
I myself live about 6 kilometers from Hasselt, so every year a few visits with the camera take place.
Every time it is a pleasure to see how the fields color with these purple, but also white flowers.
Nature surprises us again and again and what a pleasure it is to be able to capture this and let others enjoy it, if they don't have the possibility to go there.
