This photo was taken in the middle of the Duurswouderheide. This heathland area with lots of water is incredibly beautiful, not only during the heather bloom but also in the colder winter months. Just before I took this photo, a bleak wind was picking up and playing with the barren grass. Around me it was wet and the plants were already in a deep winter rest.
With the colours and contrast of this photo, I tried to depict the cold of winter along with the light brown colour of plants drawn into dormancy. The clouds are thin, giving a nice play of golden, blue, grey and white tones. There is a lot of contrast in the landscape, little in the sky, as is often the case on a dry day in winter.
Ever since I was young, I have been involved in photography a lot, partly thanks to my grandfather. He was always taking photos himself and he gave me my very first compact camera. After practising a lot with the compact camera, I switched to more serious work.. Read more…
