The valleys located in eastern Ladakh, India, along the border with Tibet are also called "Little Tibet," and not without reason! In those valleys are still many authentic Tibetan Buddhist monasteries.
One of those monasteries, far away in a remote valley is Phugtal. During a two-hour hike on crumbling mountain trails, I met two old ladies who were on pilgrimage to Phugtal.
I asked them "with hands and feet" if I could take a picture of their prayer cord.
They agreed, with open hands....
