This photographic image was taken in 2000 during my photo trip through the magical, dreamlike country of Vietnam in South East Asia.
The analogue black and white photograph was taken on the beach in Nha Trang using a Pentacon Six medium format camera and 100 iso black and white negative film. The film was hand-developed in my own black-and-white laboratory and then exposed in the darkroom on photographic cardboard. The abstract conversion of the image tones into classic black and white lends the image motif a timeless elegance and is therefore perfectly suited to a wide variety of living and working spaces.

Nha Trang is a coastal town in the province of Khánh Hòa in Vietnam. It is the tourist centre of the state. Nha Trang is known as the tourist centre of Vietnam. Even the French colonial rulers appreciated the beautiful beaches and referred to Nha Trang as the 'Nice of the East'. Kilometres of sandy beaches and many islands and coral reefs in the bay are perfect for swimming. These natural features have developed into Vietnam's tourist centre. There are numerous restaurants, beach bars and hotels on the city beach along the promenade on Tran Phu Boulevard. The main tourist attraction of Nha Trang is the Cham towers of Thap Ba Ponagar in the north of the city. This is one of the most important Cham sites in Vietnam. The buildings have been extensively renovated in recent years without destroying their character. From the southern end of Trang Phu Boulevard, the Vinpearl Cable Car travels at a height of around 60 metres to Hon Tre Island (Bamboo Island), three kilometres away, where there are extensive tourist facilities.
