Since about 1960, a steel pram belonging to the State Forestry Administration has been moored in the mud near Wierum. This type of pram was used to transport riding timber and poles used for the maintenance and construction of riding dams. An osier dam is often a watering of piles, and under the influence of wind and tide, the pram slowly decays. As you can see, the holes are falling in. As far as I am concerned, the weathering gives character to the pram. It tells a historical story in the history of the struggle against water.
This shot was taken during an early photo session on the mud flats. The sun came faintly through the clouds this gave a beautiful play of colours.
