Yes, I want! (Crown Cranes)
Once they say yes, they stay together all their lives (20 to 23 years).
They live in swamp, grass and savannah areas in southern Africa.
The heads of both males and females are adorned with a golden crown of stiff feathers and they have a red lobe at their throat.
This can be inflated and then serves as a kind of sound amplifier during their loud calls.
The crowned crane is known for its dancing skills. During the mating season, the male and female perform a dance together.
They jump around each other and make bows to each other, so-called courtship behaviour. With this dance, the male and female strengthen their bond.
They spend most of the day searching for food. By stamping their legs, insects emerge from the ground by themselves.
