Photographed in Kruger National Park in South Africa, this black-and-white shot shows a group of zebras seeking rest among the dry grass of the savannah. The natural camouflage of their stripes show how perfectly adapted these animals are to their environment.
Zebras live in close family groups and often stay close together to provide protection from predators. Their distinctive stripes may seem contrasting, but at a distance they actually break up the contours of their bodies, making them less visible in the tall grass.
This photo was taken during the dry season, when the vegetation turns golden brown and the light is soft and warm. It provides a typical image of the African wilderness: an interplay of light, colour and natural behaviour.
A moment of peace and connection in the middle of the Kruger Park's rugged landscape.
