In the photo, the beautiful medieval city gate, the Noordhavenpoort in Zierikzee is clearly visible from the Vissersdijk. The wooden swing bridge (drawbridge), left in the photo is also a national monument dating from the Middle Ages. The reflection of the Noordhavenpoort in the old harbour makes this photo extra idyllic. The warm glow over the photo from the setting sun gives it a warm feel. A beautiful picture to show it off on your wall.
Zierikzee is a beautiful monumental port town in the province of Zeeland on the island of Schouwen-Duiveland.
The city has a rich history as a trading town and counts as many as 500 monuments. The Zeeland Bridge can also be found in the immediate vicinity. This bridge is a feat of architecture and water management, with the locks that can regulate the water level in the hinterland and can be closed during spring tides.
Of the island of Schouwen-Duiveland, Zierikzee is the most important town, which also attracts many tourists every year because of its many sights, its cosy shopping streets and because you can also get there from the water.
