This painting depicts a bird with three trees. The bird stands high on its legs, has a long beak and wears a crown. So it is an important bird, you would think. But its colour is black, solid black, as if it doesn't want to be seen. But against the colourful background, he thus stands out.
Next to him is one tree and behind him are two more trees. Are the trees displaying their spring bloom with white blossom, or is their summer bloom with warm red leaves? Or do the red leaves with the burgundy dots in the green of the trees actually indicate autumn?
A black bird in a colourful forest.
It is a fairy tale told by the viewer. One day the viewer sees one thing and the next day another.
The same applies to me as the image-maker of this image.
Again, apparent imperfections make for a perfect and ever intriguing image.
The technique I have used here is acrylic on paper. By applying layers on top of each other and partly sponging them away, beautiful images are created that surprise me as an image-maker.
The colours: moss green, burgundy, white, black, yellow, orange, brown-orange, blue-purple.
