In the series 'art of flight' I made this study of the marsh harrier. The work seems to be a mixture of film and photography. To show the suggestion of flight, I had to spend many hours in my shelter tent in the first place. Waiting along the bird field at the edge of alfalfa totally puts you in the mood. The images are really captured in the original setting. Birds singing at the top of cabbage seeds and mustard plants. Then suddenly panic alarm cries and the hen harrier scurrying overhead flies by. Not after hesitating for a moment whether there is anything for his liking. They are constantly reading the ground minuscule for mice and the like. To have to spring into action after hours of almost dozing off demands focus. As a nature filmmaker and photographer, if you can capture what you can normally see at a greater distance, the mission is accomplished I think.
