About ‘waves’ by Barbara Raatgever

The picture shows a rough sea, with waves radiating power and movement. The dominance of the colour blue ranges from deep and dark in the depths of the waves to bright and almost translucent where the sunlight hits the crests. The texture of the water's surface is striking, appearing both rough and inviting, a visual representation of nature at its most untamed moments. Foam heads on the waves reflect the intense energy of the sea.

This work was inspired by the colour blue, a symbol of both calmness and depth. The inspiration was a photography expedition on La Palma, one of the Canary Islands, where the unique coastlines and the interplay of light and water left a deep impression. This adventure led to an artistic exploration of the interaction between light, water, and colour, with a focus on capturing the dynamic essence of the sea.

The mood of the image is a captivating paradox of serenity and ruggedness. It invites the viewer to feel the powerful forces of nature at work, while also offering a certain serenity caused by the endless rhythm of rolling waves. This contrast between power and calm offers an intense feeling; it is as if one can feel the brute force of nature, but at the same time have a deep Zen experience through the sound and sight of the water. This work is an ode to the natural world, which can be both awe-inspiring and soothing, captured through the lens of an artist who wanted to explore both the beauty and ferocity of the sea.

What are the delivery times?

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
