You may know Mindy from her Instagram account @mindy_schroor, where she gives you an insight into her colourful and eclectic interiors where more is more! She herself calls her home style 'Bold Romance', a feminine dreamy style, but with a raw edge and bold choices. Mindy: "Look at my living room, for example: it has quite a dark wallpaper with big tigers decorated with flowers and feathers. It's precisely that contrast that appeals to me."
Mindy has lived in their detached 1930s house in the middle of the countryside since March 2022. "We bought our house in the madness of the housing market, but looking back, it turns out that my husband and I did send the advert to each other more than eight times." Truly their dream home then! They remodelled the house from top to toe. The previous owners hadn't done anything to it since the 1970s, so everything was badly outdated. "Upstairs were 2 bedrooms, but this had to become 3. We had taken out all the walls, and made a new layout ourselves. This worked out well because they have become really super nice rooms. We are quite a bit proud of this!"
"I find inspiration everywhere. On the street, in shop windows, a series on TV, in books, magazines, and of course online. I am a real visual thinker, so as soon as I see something I like, I start visualizing. That's how many ideas arise." Mindy went for an artwork by Britta Globbe. "I am incredibly fond of surrealism, so her works immediately appealed to me, but when I saw the work 'Forced Silence', it grabbed me immediately! There is so much emotion in it, and it is such a powerful work!" One advantage of the work is that the use of colour perfectly matches the palette of Mindy's interior. "I knew immediately she would be hanging in our home!"
