Klosterkirche Sankt Antonius, Worbis (Germany) on canvas, poster, wallpaper and ArtFrame by Rossum-Fotografie

From 1668 the Franciscans established a settlement on the site of the Cistercian monastery of St. Peter, which was abolished during the Reformation. The monastery church dedicated to St Anthony of Padua was built between 1670 and 1678 according to plans of the Italian Antonio Petrini (1621-1701). One hundred years later, from 1764 to 1767, it was vaulted under the guidance of the Franciscan Cornelius Schmitt (1711-1779) and then redecorated in the style of the Rococo. Thus she survived the abolition and secularisation of the monastery in 1824. 1880 was a transformation in the taste of time; the altars and sculptures were dark attention. No significant damage occurred during the Second World War during the Second World War. As part of a large-scale renovation on the occasion of the 300-year anniversary in 1978, the late baroque appearance of the interior was largely restored.
