One of the assignments during my time at Catch Utrecht. I didn't manage to take a good overview photo because of trees. (Later I did, see 024. The yellow castle).
The building was designed by architect August Heinrich Zinsmeier in 1898 and built in 1900. It is usually referred to as Placet hic Requiescere Musis, it pleases the muses to rest here, or 'the pub' or the yellow castle. It resembles Berlage's Stock Exchange in both layout and sleek design and has Art Nouveau-like elements. In 1933, after extensive remodelling, the still unique Corps Museum was opened in the attic. On 23 April 1901, it was officially opened as the society building of the Utrechtsch Studenten Corps. It was requisitioned by the Germans during World War II and used as their headquarters. Part of the bunker they built is still part of USC's discotheque Woolloomooloo today.
