The digital artwork "Villa Johanna" depicts a white plastered, monumental residence, sleek in design and powerful in its simplicity. Situated in the middle of an open lawn, the villa exudes a serene calm and poise. With this design, the architect, Willem Maas, possibly harks back to the modernist ideas of De Stijl. The influence of Piet Mondrian and Gerrit Rietveld can be imagined in the clearly defined shapes, the clean lines and the play of light and shadow that brings the facades to life.
The composition is carefully constructed. Against the background, a summer sky unfolds with a single cloud drifting languidly overhead - a subtle reference to transience and movement against the stateliness of the architecture. To the right in the background looms a traditional farmhouse, a modest counterpart to the modern villa. This juxtaposition reinforces the tension between past and future, tradition and progress.
The white plaster of Villa Johanna reflects the sunlight in such a way that the house almost seems to float above the grass. The green surroundings form a soft contrast to the brightness of the facades. The absence of human presence gives the image something timeless, as if the villa exists outside everyday reality.
"Villa Johanna" is an ode to pure form, a digital translation of modernist ideals and a visual dialogue between architecture, landscape and art history. The work invites contemplation on dwelling, space and relationships.
