About the artwork

In this digital artwork, a summer scene unfolds at the iconic intersection of 7th Avenue and West 35th Street in New York, bathed in bright daylight under a clear blue sky without clouds. To the left, the historic department store Macy's towers up, stately and familiar. Right opposite, a huge video wall demands attention with an image of tennis player Rafael Nadal: his head on his neck, just missing, but his stance exudes determination. The text under the image reads, "Crazy dreams never quit" - an echo of New York's indomitable energy.

In the foreground, people walk into the scene. The nearest figure is a black woman wearing a brightly coloured T-shirt and striking round earrings. She casually clings to a pole, as if anchored in the flow of movement. In front of her, a black man wearing a T-shirt emblazoned with "BLAST OFF" crosses the zebra crossing, his posture confident and purposeful.

In the centre, several figures stand still, caught in a moment of observation or anticipation. To the right of the picture, two telephone booths with the name "TITAN" on top adorn the shiny top of a dark limousine. 7th Avenue itself is filled with moving traffic, while across the street tall buildings rise with recognisable logos of Citibank and Starbucks, among others. Between these towers, a fragment of West 35th Street slips into view. Everywhere, bright billboards and signs surround passers-by - the city is constantly breathing life and movement.
