About the artwork
This artwork is a mix of two things I particularly enjoy doing: photography and painting.
First, I made a painting of a circle pattern with rainbow colours. I am a big fan of rainbows. Rainbows as a natural phenomenon but also the colours of the rainbow. Wonderful how different colours blend and complement each other. Perhaps that is why rainbow colours symbolise the freedom to be who you want to be, regardless of your orientation or sexual preference. Nice that these colours symbolise the fact that we are all equal despite the fact that we are actually all different!
And then the bit about photographing. I took a photo of a graphic pattern I saw somewhere on a wall. For me, unusual patterns, structures and shapes always go on the photo because I like to mix them with another photo, for example, or, as in this artwork, with a painting.
Mixing the painted rainbow circle with the graphic patterns creates a particularly colourful and abstract whole. The colours and shapes blend harmoniously and complement each other beautifully.
