Aerospatiale SA-313 Alouette II helicopter.
Civil registration: F-AYRC.
Construction number: 1744.
The Aérospatiale Alouette II is a light helicopter model by French aircraft manufacturer Aérospatiale. It was probably the first light multi-role helicopter. Alouette is lark in Dutch.
In 1959, the Royal Air Force received 8 Aérospatiale Alouette II helicopters (registrations H-1 to H-8) with a winch that were deployed as Search And Rescue/Tactical Air Rescue detachment at 298 Squadron at Ypenburg, with dependencies at Leeuwarden Air Base and on the Wadden Islands. Later, these helicopters were placed in a separate unit: 303 Search and Rescue Squadron.
In 1963, the Alouette IIs at 303 Search and Rescue Squadron were replaced by five Alouette III helicopters.
