The red kite (Milvus milvus) is a bird of prey from the hawk family.
An adult is about 62 centimetres tall, weighs 750 to 1000 grams and has a wingspan of about 160 cm. The appearance is similar to that of the buzzard, but the red kite is more reddish and has a deeply forked tail. This distinguishes the species from the closely related black kite, which has a shallow forked tail.
