About ‘The West Tower’ by Stephan Scheffer

The body of the tower is made of brick, the superstructure consists of three floors, decreasing in size, the so-called lanterns. The first part is made of sandstone. The two upper parts are made of wood, covered with lead. The tower forms an integral part of the Westerkerk, which was designed between 1620 and 1631 in Renaissance style by the Amsterdam architect Hendrick Cornelisz de Keyser (1565-1621). He was the son of a cabinetmaker from Utrecht and came to Amsterdam around 1591 together with the city engineer Cornelis Bloemaert. The construction is believed to have been completed under the direction of his son Pieter de Keyser (1595-1676) and Cornelis Danckerts de Rij (1561-1634). The church, which was dedicated on 8 June 1631, is 73 metres long and 29 metres wide. The tower was completed in 1638. It is the highest church tower in Amsterdam (about 87 metres).

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
