About the artwork

Bestseller from Monochromes Collection

Some spaces manage to feel still and alive all at once. This corridor in Palazzo Venezia has that quiet kind of presence. The vaulted ceiling, the carved capitals, the symmetry—it’s all classic, but what makes this image stand out is the light. A single hanging lantern throws a soft glow across the stone, but it’s the shadow it casts that steals the show. You get a perfect echo of the lantern’s cage stretched tall and round on the plastered wall behind, almost like a projected memory of the light itself. The columns on each side hold the frame together, but it’s that delicate mix of curves, lines, and light-play that really holds your eye. The choice to shoot in black and white only adds to the sense of weight and calm. There’s no distraction—just the light, the stone, and the way architecture can turn into geometry when the light hits just right. It’s a moment that’s more about mood than movement, and it lingers.
