We take the night boat across the North Sea to the other side. The weather is calm, cloudy and not much wind. When we go outside on the decks late in the evening, we see sea on all sides. The ship's lights are on everywhere. I have brought a suitable camera to our cabin especially for the night photos's, with a new bright lens, so that I can shoot out of hand. The ship sails evenly, there is hardly any swell. The ship's engines make a constant pretty thumping noise and the vibrations are palpable. Fortunately, this does not affect the photos's. I get a nice contrast between the ship lighting with all its reflections and the darkness of the shadows and night.
