21 NYX BLVD This work is a beach sculpture from my series titled 21 NYX BLVD. it represents a fictional address, a journey in mind. ( NYX is the queen of the night and mother of dreams.) There is also a Self `published book made from this series. Ask for it through www.PascaleHustings.nl You see a beach road with horizon coinciding with the protective wall in front of it. On the left, a mountain, near or just infinitely far? The round white mark on the road indicates that there is something sacred, magical to be found in that spot.
The work was made in Greece, on the beautiful island of Samos, where I am partly allowed to live. The light is soft, a kind of caressing sunlight created by photographing at a certain time of day. With its almost graphic language of form and soft light colour palette, the work fits into almost any interior. See also the series Tinseltown.
Biography
Pascale Hustings (1966) was educated at the HKU and the Fotoacademie Amsterdam. Her work combines these disciplines to create a layered visual language that combines photography, drawing and collage techniques. Her exhibitions range from two- and three-dimensional installations to artistic, self-published photo books.
