Deeply embedded between steeply towering rock faces. Emerald green at the foot of the imposing Watzmann east face. Heart of the Berchtesgaden National Park.
Lake Königssee exerts a fascination that has made it famous and popular far beyond its borders. It is not without reason that it is voted by its visitors every year as one of the top excursion destinations in Germany.
Guests glide across to the unique pilgrimage church of St. Bartholomä on a quiet electric passenger boat. With its distinctive onion domes, it lies together with the former hunting lodge of the Bavarian kings in one of the most beautiful places in Bavaria.
St. Bartholomä, formerly St. Bartholomew, refers to a pilgrimage church on the western shore of Lake Königssee on the Hirschau peninsula as well as a very small settlement in the vicinity of the church, which is a district or municipality of the municipality of Schönau am Königssee in the Berchtesgadener Land district.
The small peninsula Hirschau on the western shore of Lake Königssee can be reached on foot only by a demanding alpine mountain tour of several hours. From Schönau, the approx. 8 km journey by boat is possible all year round.
