Black-and-white long-shutter speed shot of the Brooklyn Bridge and Lower Manhattan skyline, as seen from Brooklyn Bridge Park in New York City.
During this early morning, it was almost windless. The water of the East River was as flat as a mirror, beautifully reflecting Manhattan's impressive buildings. It gave a special calm to a city that normally never seems to stand still.
I took my time to determine my composition carefully, with the bridge as a powerful line pattern that bisects the image and frames the city. After several shots, I knew the right moment had been captured and could return to my hotel feeling good.
As always, I continue to work on my photos after returning home. At my desk, with the right equipment and photo editing programs, I carefully edit each shot. For this image, I opted for a black-and-white finish, to make the lines, contrasts and reflections stand out even more.
The result is a timeless cityscape that exudes both tranquillity and strength. An iconic piece of New York, captured in a moment of stillness.
