The Carmo Monastery (Portuguese: Convento da Ordem do Carmo) is a historic building in Lisbon, Portugal. The building is a former convent and associated church, located in the Chiado district. Both buildings were severely damaged during the 1755 Lisbon Earthquake. Today, the ruins of the Gothic church are the largest surviving evidence of the earthquake. Today, the building is an archaeological museum and headquarters of the Guarda Republicana.
