Castildetierra in the sunlight
Amid the vast semi-desert of the Bardenas Reales, Castildetierra rises like an icon of stone. This conical rock, formed from layers of clay, sand and limestone, has been carved into its striking silhouette by centuries of wind and rain. In the bright afternoon sun, it shows a very different face than in the morning: the colours become more intense, the contours sharper, and the sky above seems endlessly blue.
I stand in the heat facing this wondrous phenomenon. The silence of the desert is broken only by the gentle murmur of the wind, and everything around me seems to fall silent. All that matters is the beauty of the moment: the interplay of light, stone and space.
The Castildetierra is more than a geological curiosity. She is a reminder that nothing is permanent - the elements shape and deform her day after day. Yet in the sun, she radiates a timeless power, as if she has been guarding the desert for centuries.
