During a Yoga retreat I attended in Italy, this beautiful green olive branch caught my eye. I love zooming in on a detail and then highlighting it through composition and little depth of focus. This creates a beautifully graphic and almost abstract image that looks great in almost any interior.
The olive tree is one of the oldest trees in the world and is associated with strength, peace, victory and a positive image of the future. In Greek mythology, the olive tree served as a symbol of peace. If a truce had to be called during a war, one side would give an olive branch to the other. In case of quarrels, the handing over of an olive branch was also seen as a sign of reconciliation.
