This Colourful abstract landscape Landscape (1995) is an expressive and layered composition in which Dutch artist Hans Sturris makes full use of the power of acrylic paint. The work shows an abstract landscape dominated by a series of vertical forms, poles, trunks, or whatever the viewer makes of them, rising from the earth like silent sentinels.
The warm, yellowish sky contrasts beautifully with the vivid foreground, where red, pink and ochre come together in an almost explosive way. The thick, spontaneous touches give the painting a rugged energy, while the soft transitions in the background create a subtle, almost dreamy atmosphere.
Through his free brushwork, rich use of colour and evocative shapes, Hans creates a landscape that is as mysterious as it is powerful. The abstraction leaves room for personal interpretation: a field in the heat, a forgotten place, or an inner landscape full of emotion and movement.
As a print on a variety of materials, the texture of the acrylic paint emerges particularly beautifully, making the work stand out strongly in both modern and warm interiors.
