Five old metal spoons lie on a baking tray: brick-red paprika powder, sun-yellow turmeric, earthy-brown cumin, dark purple sumac and fresh, dried oregano greens. The rough-scratched baking tray underneath is reminiscent of decades of cooking, frying and seasoning. My inspiration was a street food stall in Marrakech, where spoons were used instead of bowls to visibly stack spices - quick, practical and like a small work of art. I wanted to capture this spontaneous circle of colour with a top-down perspective. Thanks to high-resolution macro, even the fine turmeric crystals and sumac cracks remain recognisable. The composition conveys energy, a sense of adventure and wanderlust; it brings a strong colour accent to modern white kitchens, cafés or spice shops. At the same time, it reminds us to spice things up more often and add a little colour to everyday life.
