Shells are a wonder of nature every time. I love them all. They are works of art with often beautiful colors, patterns and textures. Surely it is special that a snail or another mollusk can create something so beautiful!
I love going to the coast of the Netherlands. At the beach and by the surf of the sea I always look for beautiful shells. Shells I can always use, for making special pictures or to craft with.
This St. Jacobs shell I didn't find by the sea, but bought in a second-hand store.
This species lives naturally in the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, so the shells do not wash up near the coast of the Netherlands.
This shell symbolizes the Camino de Santiago, showing pilgrims the way to Santiago de Compostella. Walking this hike brings you insights and calms your mind. Therefore, creating a peaceful atmosphere was important in this photograph.
I wanted to soften the hardness of the line pattern on the shell in this photo. Therefore I mixed two photos with multiple exposures. The photo of the bokeh light balls creates a soft effect.
The result is an attractive work of art in a quiet natural color. Beautiful for example in the bedroom or any other room where peace and a zen feeling are important.
I see making art as a creative process.
The starting point of this process for me is always a photo or a painting of my own. Every work of art on this site is therefore based on a self-made photo or painting.
