About the artwork

Sometimes you are 'at the right place, at the right time'. So too here on the Deutsches Eck at the junction of the Moselle and Rhine rivers during sunset

The Deutsches Eck in Koblenz, where the Rhine and Moselle rivers meet, is a place of great historical and symbolic significance. Its name, which refers to the Teutonic Order that founded a monastery in the city in the 13th century, adds to the rich history of the location. In 1897, a monument was erected here in honour of Kaiser Wilhelm I, who played an important role in the unification of Germany. Although badly damaged during World War II, the monument remained a symbol of German unity. After the reunification of Germany in 1990, the monument was restored, and a replica of the original equestrian statue of Wilhelm I was installed in 1993.

Today, the Deutsches Eck is a popular destination for tourists and a popular spot for travel photography. Especially during sunset, it attracts many photographers, thanks to its beautiful location and breathtaking views. The warm colours of the setting sun create an enchanting atmosphere, beautifully capturing the confluence of the rivers. The contrast between the historical monument and the natural beauty of the surroundings makes it a favourite location to capture the splendour of Germany.
