I like to make work that reflects reality and this is a representation of how my cat likes to help me with my work. That feels very nice, like she supports me in what I create.
So she often models for my illustrations.
The emotion I want to convey is something every true animal lover knows well: the warm closeness and love of a befriended animal.
The work I create is graphic because I use layers of paper to build it up. For example, the pattern of the blouse was previously drawn on a piece of paper and I then cut it out in sections to suggest her body.
Similarly, the pen, paper, hands, face and hair are separate parts, and the kitten is also constructed in this way.
This creates an image from planes, instead of lines, something I like, because I like old film posters and book covers.
For animal lovers and cat lovers, this is a beautiful, colourful work to hang on the wall!
My work distinguishes itself by strong colours and clear shapes. I work with ecoline, ink and pencil, but I also like to cut and paste.
I get my inspiration from nature and like to daydream. Animals and people sometimes seem to melt together in these reveries.
