I discovered this charming Andalusian river bridge in the white Andalusian town of Conil de la Frontera in August 2025. The river flows directly into the Atlantic Ocean.
The nature motif was taken with the NIKON D800 camera.
The small town of Conil de la Frontera is an Andalusian seaside resort with a charming old town centre.
Conil de la Frontera is located in the province of Cádiz and has developed into a popular holiday resort on the Costa de la Luz in recent years.
The Costa de la Luz on the Atlantic has some wonderful holiday destinations, and Conil de la Frontera is definitely one of them. The small white town is located around 50 kilometres south of Cádiz. The nearest airports are in Jerez de la Frontera (73 km), Seville (160 km) and Málaga (205 km).
Around 22,000 people live in Conil, but this number increases many times over in the summer months. Holidaymakers particularly appreciate the wide, clean beaches, the picturesque bays and the fantastic natural landscape.
Conil has managed to retain its tranquillity and beauty despite increasing numbers of tourists.
The Costa de la Luz is considered to be the oldest settlement area in Europe and Conil de la Frontera also has evidence dating back to the Phoenician era. Some of the artefacts are on display in the town museum. The remains of a necropolis in the Huerta del Sol are also worth seeing.
Later, Conil was an important harbour for the Romans and Visigoths. In the 8th century, the Moors came to power before the town became the domain of Alonso Pérez de Guzmán after being reconquered by the Christians in the 13th century.
One of the most important naval battles in history took place nearby at Cape Trafalgar - the English admiral Nelson defeated the united Spanish-French fleet here in 1805 in the battle against Napoleon.
Fishing has been of great importance in the region for centuries, attracting many conquerors and raiders in the past.
