About ‘Female of the Quack’ by Lex van Doorn

A masterful composition of natural patterns. This portrait focuses on the female quack (night heron), captured in the rustic surroundings of Montluçon. Presenting the bird in mirror image creates a unique visual dynamic that draws attention to the exquisite details of her plumage.

The brown-speckled pattern provides perfect camouflage, but at the same time stands out brilliantly against the soft, even green background. The penetrating red eye is the colourful centrepiece of the picture. This work has been specially optimised to serve as a set with the photo of the male, which is also available on my pages's creating a harmonious and powerful nature diptych for any modern or botanical interior.
