About ‘The Heart of Chianti’ by Lex van Doorn

This impressive panorama shows Villa Cavalcanti, a historic beacon in the rolling countryside of Greve in Chianti. The villa is set amid a mosaic of vineyards and olive groves, set in a warm Mediterranean glow during the golden hour. The soft lines of the landscape and classic architecture exude the tranquillity of the Italian countryside. Biologically, this cultivated landscape is the habitat of the dwarf owl, a small nocturnal bird that nests in the hollows of old olive trees and whose call is characteristic of Tuscan summer evenings. The combination of layered hills in the background and refined details in the foreground makes this work a timeless tribute to the harmony between man and nature.
