The Fish Market with the Dom Tower in the background. So this is really old Utrecht. The Dom and the Dom Tower were completed as a whole in 1382. During the "schrickelik tempeest" of 1674 Dom and Dom Tower were separated from each other by a violent tornado. The Fish Market runs from the Stadhuisbrug to the Maartenbrug and is from around 1200. The photo was taken from the City Hall bridge with in the distance the beginning of the Kalis bridge. The water is that of the Oudegracht (around 1000) with the characteristic shipyard cellars.
This photo belongs to the series Modern History and is therefore in black and white.
