Black and white photography always remains fascinating. Colour photos are of course also beautiful, but colour then often determines the atmosphere in the image and is sometimes also a factor that makes certain details or structures less noticeable.
This is why I chose black and white for this photo.
Without colour, the different shapes, structures, lines and patterns are more visible. Black and white also creates nice contrasts and a beautiful relationship between light and shadow.
What you see here is a flower of a carnation (Dianthus). This is usually thought of as an 'ordinary' flower, but when you take a closer look, you really see how special this flower really is. It is a work of art by nature! All the petals are folded in an intricate way inside the flower, creating a special pattern and beautiful wave-like shapes.
For this work of nature art, I mixed two photos together with multiple exposures: one of the flower and one of a beautiful piece of split wood with a knot in it as well.
The merging of these two natural elements, and the omission of all colours, creates an artistic artwork with an abstract look. It's 'flower photography' but different, and this is exactly what I particularly enjoy doing!
I see making art as a creative process.
The starting point of this process for me is always a photo or a painting of my own. Every work of art on this site is therefore based on a self-made photo or painting.
