"Flower of the Soul" - a nod to Frida.
An imaginary portrait in which the face is composed of mosaic-like textures, while from the head springs a lush crown of lily-like flowers. The blue butterfly - a symbol of transformation - rests playfully on the face, adding a spark of mysticism to the work. The combination of Photoshop collage and paint-like brushstrokes in Corel Painter X3 gives the image a bold, hand-painted energy reminiscent of Frida's iconic floral portraits, but translated into a modern, digital language. The result is a celebration of resilience, femininity and vibrant colour.
Material recommendation
Acrylic glass (gloss).
Why appropriate. Enhances the bright colours and depth of the collage layers; gives a luxurious, museum-like feel. Where to hang. Modern living rooms, gallery walls, lobbies.
Canvas or Art Frame
Adds tactile painting texture, emphasising Frida-like paint strokes; less gloss, more painting feel.
Size tip: This work comes across powerfully on medium to large format (e.g. 70 × 105 cm or 90 × 135 cm), to show off the texture and detail of flowers and mosaic. Hang it with enough white space around it to allow the colours to "breathe".
