Fort de la Chartreuse in Liège, Belgium. This fort dates back to the days of the United Kingdom of the Netherlands, and the Belgian struggle for independence. After the fort served as a prison and military hospital in both World Wars, the complex has been left to decay. By now, nature has almost completely taken over - the trees are literally growing through the roof.
This is one of the impressive staircases that can be found throughout the fort. Some of them have collapsed and are impassable - others still lead up to the upper floors, for those daring enough to risk it.
