"Fragile together: Two leaves of the Bougainvillea" is a still life I photographed of two set of leaves of the Bougainvillea.
They look like two leaves but if you look closely you can see that they are sets. But the two front leaves are central in the photo and this is where the emphasis is and also in terms of sharpness.
These leaves have been dried by the Spanish sun. Because they have been dried like this, the leaves have become very fragile and thin. This makes the vein structure very visible. The leaves have also become a little transparent, so you can sometimes vaguely see the leaf behind the front leaves. This gives a nice effect.
Because the leaves are on a mirrored surface, you can see the leaves in the ground surface, seen from a different angle.
The background colour is mottled with many different warm pastel shades
This still life of Bougainvillea leaves, in soft pastel shades, could hang beautifully in the bedroom, waiting room or simply above the sofa on the wall in the living room, for example!
