Fragmentismo: ISRAEL: LET EVERYTHING THAT BREATHES

LET EVERYTHING THAT BREATHES PRAISE THE ETERNAL ONE

KlaasR | Fragmentamism – Israel series

‘Let everything that breathes praise the Eternal One’ is a work of art in which faith, music and the age-old Jewish tradition come together. Two Jewish men, recognisable by their traditional clothing and hats, sit facing each other by a historic stone wall. Their musical instruments lend the performance a subdued yet joyful character. At the bottom are the Hebrew words from Psalm 150:6, followed by the English translation:

“Let every breath praise Yah. Hallelujah!”

The powerful interplay of bright red, dark blue and warm cream gives the image a distinctively graphic quality. The dark silhouettes provide a point of calm against the light background, whilst the fragmented details of the stone wall add rhythm and movement to the image.

Within Fragmentamism, the artistic style developed by KlaasR, reality is dissected and reconstructed from sharp contours, contrasting areas of colour and whimsical fragments.

Psalm 150 forms the festive conclusion to the Book of Psalms. Musical instruments, songs of praise and all that breathes are called upon to praise the Eternal One. The artwork connects these words with the living Jewish musical culture, in which faith and musical expression are closely intertwined.

An ode to music, the breath of life and the joy of praising the Eternal One. Hallelujah!
