The hike through Canyonlands started early, before sunrise, when the landscape was shrouded in a mysterious twilight. The crisp morning air gave us an energetic start as we made our way through the undulating terrain of sandstone formations and narrow gorges. The soft light of the rising sun coloured the rocks in deeper and deeper shades of orange and red, as if the landscape was slowly awakening.
As the day progressed, the temperature climbed steadily, and we increasingly sought shade under protruding rocks or in cool gorges. The silence was broken only by the gentle crunch of our footsteps on the sandy path. The views surprised again and again: jagged towers, eroded arches and deep canyons formed an almost otherworldly backdrop. Despite the heat, the hike remained a succession of wonder and admiration for this unique, timeless landscape.
