On 25 April 2016, I stood on the west coast of Nusa Lembongan as the sun slowly sank into the sea. The light grew warmer with every minute; first soft yellow, then copper, until the sky and water became one in a golden glow. In the distance, small fishing boats floated, their silhouettes sharp against the light, like shadows of stories repeated every evening. The sound of the engines was faint, drowned out by the rhythmic lapping of the waves. I felt the day disappear - not abruptly, but in layers of colour and silence. This was a moment when the world seemed simple: a horizon, a sun, a few boats and the sea. Nothing spectacular, and so full of meaning for that very reason. Travelling through Asia had shown me a lot, but that evening taught me above all that beauty often appears when everything comes to rest.
