It always starts with an empty table and a stack of magazines. With a few colours in mind, I simply start collecting. Some images are simply most beautiful when torn into strips. Fragments of a story then emerge between the jagged lines; told differently to each viewer.
While collecting, the image with the buildings caught my eye. The thought of what would be going on behind the windows was the start of this visual story in strips. You see all sorts of textures and images in shades of grey; sparse vegetation, two parts of a face, a marble slab and part of a shirt. The plain black strips act as mysterious interruptions.
This work is made in A5 format. All images are hand torn.

Am 40 years old, wife, mother, husband, teacher and a graduate of the Willem de Koning academy in Rotterdam. Searching for the artist in me since 2020. The inspiration in paper magazines continues to fascinate me immensely ; stories arise under my hands..
