It always starts with an empty table and a stack of magazines. With a few colours in mind, I simply start collecting. Some images are simply most beautiful when torn into strips. Fragments of a story then emerge between the jagged lines; told differently to each viewer.
In a multi-colour collage, balance is very important. Although strips are allowed to stand out, they should work together; in colour, structure and image.
The torn strips take the viewer to a warm late summer afternoon; from soft green tones in the various strips, shaded spots to suggestions of comforting caresses in the various warm colours.
This work is made in A5 format. All images are hand torn.
