The Grumman TBF/TBM Avenger (TBF built by Grumman, TBM built by General Motors) is an American torpedo bomber, deployed in the Pacific region during World War II. The Avengers were stationed on aircraft carriers and military airfields commanded by the U.S. Marine Corps. The Avenger was developed as a successor to the Douglas TBD-1 Devastator, which became obsolete around 1939.
