About the artwork

Kroondomein Het Loo is an estate on the Veluwe, in the Dutch province of Gelderland. It is the largest estate in the Netherlands and encompasses approximately 10,400 hectares. The crown estate extends northwest of the city of Apeldoorn, and it consists of three areas.

State Domain at Het Loo section Paleispark (the Palace Park including Het Loo Palace, Het Oude Loo Castle and the gardens), State Domain at Het Loo section Hoog Soeren, and the actual Crown Domain. Staatsdomein bij Het Loo afdeling Hoog Soeren and the actual Kroondomein Het Loo are collectively referred to as the Koninklijke Houtvesterij Het Loo, with a combined surface area of almost 9700 hectares. The estate is located mainly in the municipality of Apeldoorn but also partly in the municipalities of Nunspeet and Epe.

The State Domains are owned by the State of the Netherlands. The State is represented by the Government Property Agency (RVB) of the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations. Previously, the State of the Netherlands was legally represented by the State Property Department and the State Property and Development Agency of the Ministry of Finance, and economically by the Government Buildings Agency of the Ministry of Housing, Spatial Planning and the Environment. The Government Property and Development Agency and the Government Buildings Agency merged with the Ministry of Defence Property Department (DVD) and the Government Property Directorate into the Government Property Agency in 2014.
