Hofstede Meerzigt is a monumental farmstead, dated 1677. The living area, built in urban form with basement and double stoop, probably dates from 1672. Jacob Thiesem had a section added in 1677. The classicist mansion has a higher central section with pediment, against which festoons. Old window frames with shutters. The farmhouse was restored in 1977-1979 and I took this photo as part of my 'documenting the city' project. A beautiful sunlight creeps through the leaves of the trees on the real driveway. It is a wonderful example of the rich history that New Town Zoetermeer also has. Young couples get married here every week and the former haystack is home to restaurant Hofstede Meerzigt. They have a Michelin star, and in a classic interior, this statue can look great with its beautiful greenery.
